Music Production Workshops (6 Week Non-Qualification course)

Working in partnership Cornwall Music Education Hub, Black & Gold Audio are offering FREE Music Production Workshops for anyone aged between 11 and 19 years old. The sessions are designed to give a fun and engaging overview of Music Production techniques using Cubase 10.5 / Logic Pro X / Ableton software and hardware controllers. Sessions will be based in a mac suite at the chosen campus. Students will learn how to sequence beats, bass, chords and melodies whilst learning audio engineering, fx processing and basic mixing techniques.

Who is this course for?

Students between the ages of 11 and 19 years of age that are interested in music technology and production. Candidates are not required to have previous knowledge of playing an instrument, using a DAW or recording with microphones but previous experience would be an advantage.

What will I learn?

This will include course objectives.

  1. Use Midi and Audio recording / sequencing techniques

  2. Use computerized file location, file saving and backup procedures

  3. Manipulate and mix down a combination of MIDI and audio materials

How will I learn?

The aim of the course is to build a basic knowledge and understanding of making music with a computer and DAW system, composition and recording work will be completed within the sessions through the use of hardware equipment and production software such as Cubase 10.5, Logic Pro X & Ableton Live. Each week will focus and build upon the last, by week 6 students should have a completed short based song to take away.

What equipment do I use on the course?

The Centre has a good range of Music Technology equipment, this includes iMac computers with Logic Pro X & Ableton Live software, MIDI Controller keyboards.

You will need to purchase a 1GB (minimum) USB storage / flash pen for backing up of files. Most importantly you will need your own set of headphones for each session (not in-ear phones).
