AUDIOBOOK RECORDING & PRODUCTION
Reels
Audiobook recording and production involves several key steps to transform a written book into an engaging audio experience. If you are a publisher seeking to convert your books into high quality audio versions for digital distribution, then we can help you achieve that goal.
It is our mission to work with our clients collaboratively in order to achieve a process that blends storytelling, technology, and artistry for a polished audio version of a book, designed to captivate listeners.
PRE RECORDING REQUIREMENTS
Rights Acquisition - As a publisher or author we would expect you to have secured the rights to produce the audiobook and prepared the script by adjusting for a more conversational delivery, including the elimination of visual elements that don’t translate well to audio, however we do also supply music and sound design for some books to support the narrative, we are able to discuss these options with you upon request.

Casting - You may already have a narrator for your book in mind, if not we can help you with casting someone who is suitable for your book, generally they are chosen based on their voice quality, acting ability, and fit for the book’s tone and genre. Some audiobooks feature a single narrator, while others might use a full cast for a more theatrical production.
RECORDING
Recording session - The recordings can be done either in our studios (if local / regional) or the narrator can be in their own studio and we can take their high quality audio feed into ours via remote software such as Source Connect.

Voice Direction - It is often good practice for a 'director' to be present in the recording session to give specific instructions regarding tone, pace, and emotional delivery to match the book’s style and themes. This can be done in persona or remotely.
POST PRODUCTION
Raw Audio Editing - After recording, we process the raw audio for clarity, removing background noise, mispronunciations, long pauses, or stumbles. We then enhance the audio to ensure consistent volume, sound quality, and clarity. If needed, the narrator’s performance is balanced for smoothness and consistency.

Mastering - We will master the final production ensuring uniform sound quality, and preparing the audiobook for distribution with the audio formats of your choice (e.g., MP3, AAC, WAV) often made available through platforms like Audible, Google Play Books, and libraries.
